Using fastjet to cluster in MadGraph 5

Asked by Jack Medley

Hello,
I am generating using the sm-no_b_mass model and I am trying to use FastJet (which is installed at v3.0.6) to cluster the jets with the anti-kt algorithm. I have done the:

set fastjet Path/To/Fastjet/fastjet-config

part in madgraph but when I export the process to a directory there doesnt seem to be any options for jet clustering.
Cheers,
Jack

Dear Jack,

The "set fastjet Path/To/Fastjet/fastjet-config" is only for NLO running.

When running the MadGraph5_aMC@NLO code at LO, there is no difference in jet algorithms: all algorithms will give exactly the same results. Therefore, there is no need to include fastjet. Simply using a minimum jet-pT and DeltaR (which can be set in the run_card) is enough to agree with the anti-kT algorithm in fastjet.

Best regards,
Rikkert

Dear Rikkert,
I have one question in this issue. If I work with LO merged sample (i.e. say generate p p > z z @0 , add process p p > z z j @1) then jet clustering is needed or not? If needed, what are the possibilities in aMC@nlo?

Regards,
Goutam

Dear Goutam,

No need for you to set-up jet-clustering: it's only used internally at the level of the matching.
You'll get an inclusive sample that you can analyze anyway you want.

Best regards,
Rikkert
