Default dynamic factorization and renormalization scales in V+jets processes

Asked by Sho Maruyama

Dear MadTeam,

I have a question on the default dynamic factorization and renormalization scales in V+jets processes at LO. I read the description* but want to make sure I understand it right.
For example, if we have Z(->ll)+2jets, then are the scales set to mT^2 of Z boson, M(Z)^2 + pT_Z^2, because there is only one heavy particle, or to the geometric mean of jet pT^2 because there are two jets, or to the highest mT^2 of all possible combination?

Thank you for your help and sorry if I missed similar questions answered already.

Best,
Sho

Hi Sho,

This should be the MT^2 of the Z boson in that case.

Cheers,

Olivier
