MG5 running very slow for a particular process

Asked by Anthony DiFranzo

Hello everyone,

I put together a Z' model, where I only introduce a new vector and include a few interactions to the SM, so nothing very complete.

When I go to generate a cross section with the Z' in the s-channel (say p p > z' > e+ e-) it takes a very long time. And when it does complete the calculation it has only produced 5-20 events rather than 10000. Also the cross-section it does calculate is very big , order 10^6 pb.

I've spent a long time trying to find my mistake but can't seem to. I've also checked similar processes involving SM particles in its place and they work just fine in my model.

Does seem indicative of a particular error?

Since no error is being reported, I don't have a debug file, but let me know if there is anything I can send that would help.

Thank you!

Hi,

Did you set the width to zero?

Cheers,

Olivier
