Is MadGraph5 version 1.5.7 still available? It is not in the downloads area.

Not really,

If you really want that precise version this is the instructions:
 install bazaar (if not yet done)
then run the following command:
bzr branch lp:madgraph5
cd madgraph5
bzr revert -r 239

Then you have the 1.5.7 version.
By default you will be in debug mode if you want to be in production mode,
you can remove the file
./bin/create_release.py
