How to include t-channel particles in event files?

Asked by Johann Brehmer

Good morning,

is there any way to include t-channel particles in the event files? More specifically, is there a way to include the Ws in VBF processes?

Thanks a lot!

Cheers,
Johann

Hi Johann,

This is not possible to do.

They are first a technical problem: This will break the LHE convention. Meaning that shower program will not be able to understand that file.
But also a physical problem, since this information is not physical, since they are often interferences with various diagrams.
Therefore the presence of a particles in t-channel (and even more the identity of such particles) is not physical and therefore it is impossible
to write such information in a coherent way (but in some very specific case).

Actually, this is the exact same reason why we don't write off-shell particles in the LHE file.

Cheers,

Olivier

I see your point and will have to look for alternative ways to do what I want.
