About the $ : get different results with slightly different syntax

Asked by Kirtimaan

generate p p > h j j /p $ z w+ w- gives me a cross-section of 3.5 pb, while
generate p p > h j j /p $z w+ w- note that their is no space between $and z in this case, this should show up as a syntax error, but it still runs and i get a cross-section of 4.0 pb.
I thought this maybe only getting rid of w+ and w- resonant production but on trying
generate p p > h j j /p $ w+ w-
I get 4.4 pb.

Is this a bug?

Dear Kirtimaan,

I can't reproduce your problem - I don't get any difference at all between the resulting output directories for the two syntaxes, so there can be no difference between the results. Can you please regenerate the processes in clean process directories named PROC_with_space and PROC_without_space, run
diff -r PROC_with_space/ PROC_without_space/
and let us know which diff:s you get?

Thanks,
Johan

Dear Kirtimaan,

I just test this with version 1.5.1, which is going to be release right now and as Johan, I can't reproduce your problem.

generate p p > h j j /p $ z w+ w- (3.152 +- 0.007557 pb)
generate p p > h j j /p $z w+ w- (3.152 +- 0.007557 pb)

Could you cross-check with that version?

Thanks,

Olivier
