dijet distribution

Asked by Mukesh Kumar

Dear Sir,
I am trying to get dijet distribution in MG5 through following process:
p p > j j @1 in 'sm' (7 TeV LHC) with different cuts on ptj and etaj but I didn't get the similar results obtained by other package like CalcHep (huge difference in magnitude of y-axis).
Can you please help me out with some references (experimental), how to get correct d\sigma/d(mjj) distribution. Basically I am comparing my results with arxiv:1010.0203 [hep-ex] Figure 1.

Thanks,

Regards,
Mukesh

Hello Mukesh,

When comparing between different programs, you need to first make sure that all your parameters are the same. Most importantly, the PDF, the scales (factorization and renormalization scales), and the value of the strong coupling constant used, as well as the cuts (ptj, etaj, mjj, etc.). Regarding the scales, the easiest (for comparison) is to use fixed scales at a common value. You can then use the physically more correct variable scales for the actual event simulation.

All the best,
Johan
