multi_run pythia events number

Asked by LigongBian

Dear MG-Team,

Is the events number upper limit still be 50k in pythia now?
I can get only parton level files of run_name after

multi_run NB_Run run_name --laststep=pgs,

is that so ?

I want to get the pythia level files, so I do

pythia run_nane

in the madevent shell ,
I find that the process is so slow when the number of events is 1M, is that so , if it can give the right
 pythia level files?

and I want to know is there any other way quicker to get pythia level files with the parton level files of run_name?

any help is welcome and thanks in advance ,

LG

Hi LG,

The problem is just a computer problem with such large number of events the size of the file is so big that your computer has trouble with it. I think that they are no problem for 100k events.

Note that a faster way of doing is just to merge the various pythia file which are created for each subset of the multi-run.
Even better is to not have need to merge it, but this depend on what you are doing after.

Cheers,

Olivier
