How can I edit a non-predefined *.menu?

Asked by Andry

On Ubuntu 16.04 (with Unity) I use ClassicMenu Indicator with kde4-applications.menu (instead of gnome-applications.menu).
I tried to set the value of $XDG_MENU_PREFIX to " kde4-". But it did nothing.

How can I tell MenuLibre to edit this particular file?

Thank you.

Andry
