add a launcher rearranges and empties existing branches

Running in Ubuntu Studio 16.04.3 after I add a application it clears out some categories, adds new categories, moving things from old categories to new categories.

For example after adding an app to the Development branch, the Video Production branch is now empty and programs that were in it are now in a category called Graphic Design, that wasn't there before.
