Now What?

Asked by Walt Z

OK, so I used MenuLibre to create a launcher, and it created a Desktop Entry file in my Home folder. Now What? When I double-click the file, it opens in GEdit. I'm using Ubuntu.

It created the launcher in your /home/username folder?

Once you create or modify the launcher and press "Save", it should have created a launcher in /home/username/.local/share/applications, and as long as you didn't set it to be hidden from the menus, it should be readily available from your applications menu/Unity dash.

Yeah, it made it in my /home/username folder. I moved it to the folder
you indicated, added ".desktop" to the filename, made it executable, and
it now works. Thanks!

Sorry about that, probably a bug on my part. I just made some changes that should show up as an update in the PPA later today, hopefully you won't have to manually edit anything else now. :-)
