Skype removed from repository

Asked by Bazmata

It seems that since yesterday (Dec. 10, 2009) Skype has been removed from the medibuntu packages list (it is not listed on http://packages.medibuntu.org/karmic/), which marks installed packages as "local or obsolete" in Synaptic.
Please provide any info why is that so, since http://packages.medibuntu.org/karmic/skype.html exist and you can download and install skype from there.

Thanks

I didn't realize it has been reported as Bug #494564 and announced as #4539.

Well, thanks VERY much for not providing Skype and updates any more.

See you never again!

This direction makes the Ubuntu desktop experience not appealing to the common user whatever your geographical location may be. Medibuntu's description is non-free software hence skype falls into this category. Ubuntu developers should be transparent on their decision to remove skype from the medibuntu repositiry. I personally advocate using ubuntu for daily computing use, which includes skype as a major feature in almost every install whatever your distro or platform is.

I hope that this question could be received constructively.
