Removing packages

Google earth was installed automatically from the Medibuntu repository page. It seems to have installed well and starts loading normally then freezes. I now want to uninstall the package but how do I do this? In Synaptics it does not show as being installed and cannot therefore be uninstalled from there.

After about 15 minutes the package showed up in synaptics and I was able to remove it. The alternative installation explained in the Ubuntu documentation worked perfectly first time so all is now well.
