Medibuntu servers not working properly

Asked by Bill Gunn

My problem is that the Medibuntu repository no longer works for me. All the other repositories work fine for updates using update manager.

The server resets after about every 120 KB of download and it is impossible to download as update manager goes back to the start of the file. If I try to download the .deb using wget it tries to pickup where it was interrupted but that too dies before completing a download. It has been that way since at least Sat 4 Apr.

I am only using 56K dialup but it should still work for that, the way the other repositories do.

Additional information this not only applies to updates - I was try to update the win32-codecs and Amarok. It also applies to installations. I just tried to install the acoread-plugins using Synaptic and exactly the same problem occurs.

I tuned again the config, and now I can't reproduce the problem anymore, so maybe it's solved. Can u retry ?

Sorry to take a bit of time coming back, but I wanted to check it out fully. The problem is still there. What is happening is that instead of getting a connection closed every ~100KB, I now see one every ~400KB.

I have been able to get wget to download win32codecs completely by setting the -t 0 option for infinite retries as the default is 28. I thought enabling the apt.conf file with Retries "0" but this still fails before complete download.

So it is still not working properly for apt with dialup.
