Is Medibuntu brand recognized by Canonical?

Asked by serola

Since your acronym and logo are very close to names and logos used by Canonical, I like to know if Medibuntu acronym and logo are recognized and accepted by Ubuntu Canonical. See the following pages:

Hi,

In short, no (they are well-aware that we exist though).

For the history:
Two years (and a half) ago, Medibuntu hasn't been created yet, and I started maintaining another repository with the same purpose (plf-ubuntu). I contacted Canonical to know if they were ok with the name, they never responded, so this was clearly a waste of time. That's why I haven't recontacted them for Medibuntu.

Thank you Lionel for quick answer :)

Hopefully some day you become officially recognized by Ubuntu Canonical. Personally I don't like Ubuntu brand used carelessly since I think users should be well informed when they are using official Ubuntu product and when they are using something, which is only based on Ubuntu or meant to be used with Ubuntu. But as I said, this is only my personal opinion.
