RealPlayer 11 package

Asked by Nicola Jelmorini

Hi,

Medibuntu is the "non free" repository for Ubuntu, so I'm wondering why RealPlayer 11 is not included.
I know that realplayer formats can be played through Totem with some gstreamer plugins, but not all formats are supported and not all particular function are supported.

For example at this site
http://www.rtsi.ch/welcome.cfm?idChannel=2330&idModule=2736#m2563
you can watch some streaming TV programs. These programs are subdivided in different parts, each one is a single argument.
If I use Totem to play the program, every time all the program is displayed, even if I want to watch the last part.
With RealPlayer instead I can select exactly the part I want to watch.

So I think that including RealPlayer can be a good idea.

Hi,

We don't include realplayer 10 as it is provided by Canonical partner repository.

Realplayer 11 isn't (and won't be) included in it, so we added it for medibuntu intrepid (http://packages.medibuntu.org/intrepid/realplayer.html), but for hardy it was a bit too late.

Cheers,

The Canonical partner repository only has Realplayer 10 for distros upto Gutsy. Would the Intrepid package of Realplayer 11 work with Hardy?
