Hot-babe created CPU fan failure?

Asked by saurabh

Hello
using ubuntu 8.04

i installed hot-babe thru synaptic
then i did not like it and uninstalled it. Then shut down my laptop.

3 hrs later i again started my laptop. The CPU fan started but stopped after 2-3 seconds and then never starts, thus shutting the laptop forcibly. This pattern is repeated every time i start laptop. So fan is not really gone bad, i guess

One of my friends, a programmer, has suggested that it's possible, that hot babe has some program to switch off the CPU fan and that program has done some damage coz it's designed to take off clothes when the heat increases. So may be its programmer wanted rapid rise in heat so he did some programming this way.
Question: Is this possible? If yes, how to un-do this damage?

Hi,

Yes, it's possible (but not without admin rights), but there's nothing like this in hot-babe (it only reads /proc/stat to get the cpu usage).

Cheers,
