ffmpeg is holded back

Asked by Michael Leetz

Hello,

there are 3 important security updates available for Ubuntu Lucid, but it's not possible to install them:

ffmpeg, libavdevice52, libavfilter0.

This packages are holded back in Synaptic, because they are depending on other packages, but these packages have a conflict with the Medibuntu repository.

How is it possible to solve this conflict?

Thank you for help!

as I understand that's because the header of the stock ubuntu package (4:0.5.1-1ubuntu1.1) was modified to be higher than medibuntu one (4:0.5.1-1ubuntu1+medibuntu1). It allows you to install security update, but you are loosing medibuntu goodies. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I haven't lost any other packages. I don't think, that you are loosing medibuntu goodies, if you install the security update. But I'm not quiet sure.

Michael: If you run ffmpeg -codecs do you still see these three lines?

...
EA libfaac libfaac AAC (Advanced Audio Codec)
...
 DEA libopencore_amrnb OpenCORE Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) Narrow-Band
 D A libopencore_amrwb OpenCORE Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) Wide-Band

The packages have been updated in medibuntu, so everything should work as expected now.
