Look here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu

Scroll down to: Playing Encrypted DVDs

(There may have been problems with the Mdedibuntu Repository over the last few days...)

Hi :)

Most of the work-arounds wont work for me since i do not already have the sources.list on this fresh install of 10.04

To play commercial/rental dvd's try installing libdvdcss directly from the videolan website
http://www.videolan.org/developers/libdvdcss.html
this download
http://download.videolan.org/pub/libdvdcss/1.2.9/deb/

For mplayer & the w32codecs try
http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/news.html

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Hi :)

Medibuntu has been fixed now. You might like to quickly work through the Medibuntu worksheet to get everything sorted the way it should be

WoooHooo, congrats :))

I prefer VLC for watching movies and stuff but totem is great for radio. I think to get totem working i would be tempted to use Synaptic Package Manager

System - Adminsitration - Synaptic

Click on

Edit - "Fix broken packages"

then use either search tool to find totem and right-click to reinstall it. Finally click on the "Mark all updates" button & the click on "Apply". Hopefully that should sort a few things out that might have gone a bit wonky over the last few days.

Please let us know how this goes
Good luck and regards from

Please don't add your problem onto the end of someone else's problem. Make a new post!

Have you installed Medibuntu and libdvdcss?

Hi :)

Try using this guide
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu

Then when you insert the cd/dvd go up to the top taskbar and click on the "Places" menu. It should appear in there.
Please do post a new question about this if that doesn't work

so I also tried:
------
root@eric-laptop:/home/eric/Documents# cdrecord -scanbus
scsibus1:
 1,0,0 100) 'Slimtype' 'DVD A DS8A3S ' 'HP53' Removable CD-ROM
 1,1,0 101) *
 1,2,0 102) *
 1,3,0 103) *
 1,4,0 104) *
 1,5,0 105) *
 1,6,0 106) *
 1,7,0 107) *
root@eric-laptop:/home/eric/Documents#

Hi :)

Launchpad does not have a good system for old questions, especially ones that are already marked as "Solved". People tend to answer newer, unanswered questions. Please re-post as a new question using this link
https://answers.launchpad.net/medibuntu/+addquestion

Note that you can copy and paste your question into the new thread you make
