Shield continuously disconnects and reconnects

Tekla shield is paired and connected with my Nexus S.
Unfortunately, it disconnects and immediately reconnects every 15-20 seconds. It never remains disconnected for over a second.
If I lock the phone, it unlocks when the shield does its disconnect/reconnect, although not every time I lock.

Any suggestions?
