How to use the Tekla Shield for PowerPoint presentations?

Asked by Eric Wan

I am looking into using the Tekla Shield to control presentation slides on a PC. One suggestion is to acquire the bluetooth connection information and implement a switch event translation PC program. Does anyone have a better solution than mine? Thank you.

I was looking into Gmote for this (http://www.gmote.org/). I would like to test it with Tekla before I give you a definitive answer, but if you have a chance, maybe you can play with it and post back what you find out.

Even if the app is not accessible to Tekla, making it accessible may just be a matter of making a specific request for a future version or even draft it yourself since the project is open source. More to come...

I did a quick test and although the UI is generally accessible with Tekla, it is not very intuitive and it may be too much of a hassle for what it is worth. I think your approach (i.e. implementing the switch event translation program on the PC) may be better since it also avoids having to go through an Android device. The only issue is that after disconnecting from Android to connect to the PC, you would need help connecting to Android again.

The details on the protocols used by the shield are available on the wiki at

Can you help with this problem?
