"No Channel Selected" Error Message

Asked by Marco

Hi
In my computer Me-TV used to work fine till today.

I have Ubuntu 9.10 , the latest version of Me-TV (build 14) and a Terratec Cinergy DVB-T card.
When i started Me-TV today, the wizard requesting channel configuration popped up.
I though the channels were gone, so I did a scan using w_scan (W_scan -c IT -x > channels) and then I gave the resulting file to the wizard "scanning with an initial file". It imported the channels without problems. Then the channels could be viewed and recorded without problems with Me-TV.

However once exiting Me-TV and re-starting, a message showing "No channel Selected" pops out. I checked if Me_TV "sees" the card and it shows it as available.
Then If I delete all the channels and redo the wizard the process repeats. The channels are found and Me-Tv works fine till you terminate it. Once you restart it the error message pops up.

I am not an expert in Ubuntu, I though something could have gone wrong in the configuration files, so I "removed completely" Me-TV using the App Manager and then re-installed it from the Ubuntu reporitories. This does not seem this gets rid of the configuration files because I still find configured the folder where I store my recordings.
The error of course pops up again.

Can somebody help me? I have not seen in the forums this kind of problem.

thank you/grazie

Marco

I think that this was an issue with Me TV 1.1.4. I think that we've fixed this in Me TV 1.1.5, please confirm this for me.

On another note, it sounds like you would benefit from the new autoscan feature (alternative to w_scan), are you interested in becoming one of our testers? May I ask how you are installing Me TV?

Michael thanks for the quick answer.
I have 1.1.4.
I installed MeTV from the repositories of Ubuntu. From then on it keeps it updated.
I tried downloading the new package, 1.1.5 but then....I do not know how to install it....
YES, I would be interested in an autoscan feature.

Regards/ciao

Marco

Repositories are good. If you're using the Me TV Development PPA one then I think that Scott just updated that about 15 minutes ago. Thanks Scott!

Ubuntu Karmic only has Me TV 1.0.0 in its repository as far as I know. Am I right?

Ummm, that's just a comment in the sources.list file, it's actually still enabled. I don't know what the karmic install process does but it appears that it has left it enabled despite the comment.

For them (PPA) to be disabled they would need to begin with a #

The # after the "deb http...." shows as a comment when viewing sources
via synapitc package manager... (add/remove)

If you would like to test the autoscan feature then we will need to discuss and also help you get set up.

Contact options:

1) IRC: #me-tv on FreeNode
2) Email me

I'm GMT +1100. We're not always there, right now I'm at work. Scott is sometimes there and might be able to help you build from the source repository if he's not busy.
