Channel Sorting

Asked by TopEnder

Me-TV works well with 9.04 (jaunty)

Is there anyway to sort the channels, if not could a sort Up or Down keys be added to View/Channel Editor in a future release.
Example:

Current Order to this Order (Alphabetical)
ABC 1 DDT HD
ABC2 Nine Darwin HD
Nine Darwin HD SBS ONE
SBS ONE SBS TWO
SBS TWO SBS 1
SCTV HD - Darwn SCTV HD - Darwn

Thanks, TopEnder

Do you mean that you need a re-order feature? Or are you asking me to write a channel sorter for your 6 channels ;)

Hi...

Here's an alternate solution,

Grab yourself a copy of W_scan from the ubuntu repositories, this
application allows you to create your own channel.conf file, then you
can edit the order that you wish to have the channels.

The text you need to issue to W_scan is... (this will take a little
while as it does a full scan of all DVB-T channels!)

w_scan -X > channels.conf

this will then create the channels.conf file, this is sorted by default
by frequency so then you can use your favourite text editor and sort the
channels as you want them to appear, NOTE! do not add any extra
characters to the generated text or this will not work... best of
luck :)

Here's an example of the text output (from the above created
channels.conf) I get here for Hobart...

Hi Scott, I don't see how this is any easier than using the Channel Editor. Can you please explain?

Ha its not! I didn't realise that you could drag'n'drop the channels in
the editor ;)

Michael Lamothe, Thanks, for the quick reply, What I am suggesting is two buttons (Move Up & Move Down) added to the Channel Editor area so channels can be sorted/ moved, similar to what is available is a Set Top Box. In my case I did not list all the available channels in the Darwin area as all are not available in "au-Darwin" I have to pick up the DDT channels fro "au-Adelaide", which puts the at the bottom of channels available for viewing at the bottom of the displayed list. Scott Evens, Thanks for the reply, I have never been able to get "w_scan -X > channels.conf" to work, just a list of numbers (probable frequencies) e.g.
w_scan version 20081106

While me-tv works and works very well, I have similar problems trying to get "Channel.conf" working with Xine and TVtime. TopEnder

That's normal output for w_scan, the > xxxx is the file that is created
as a result you then can play with that! however there is an even easier
way to shift the channels.. in the channel editor just drag them to the
order you want! (only discovered this today myself!)

Scott Evans, Maybe it's my age but you lost me, the last bit of the w-scan entry says:
