Can't make TV tuner work

Asked by dumpa

I have asked this question before when I was using hardy. Now I have Jaunty.

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/35137

I have a ViXS PureTV-U 48A3 NTSC/ATSC Combo. It works with windows (but I want to get rid of windows)

I have tried MythTV and MeTV
when I run me-tv I get

dumpa@dumpa-desktop:~$ me-tv --verbose

And a sign that there are no available DVB tuner devices.

Anyone has any idea on what to do next?
thanks

Run `me-tv -v` and tell me what it says about your device.

It might be that you still have the MythTV backend running, a common mistake.

Sorry, I should have noticed that you had already done that. Are you sure that you have a working DVB device? You're telling me that kaffeine works? Is there anything under /dev/dvb?

There is nothing under /dev/dvb The directory doesn't exist.
The device works because I have a dual booth with windows vista and it works. The only reason I keep windows is because of that.
I don't use kaffeine, I just installed it and it plays dvds and music, I don't see any tv on it.

Oh, I thought that you actually had MythTV working, just not Me TV. I can't really help you with your specific device.
FAQ #353: “Does Me TV support my specific hardware?”.
