me-tv 0.6: Unknown engine type

Asked by dbrb2

Hi - I have just built the latest me-tv 0.6 for my ubuntu 8.04 system, containing a DVB-T Nova-T 500 dual tuner. I have been using previous releases of the software to date. I built without a hitch, then was able to succesfully scan for channels. However, there were two problems:

Firstly, if I try to view any channel I get a dialog box with the message "Unknown Engine Type"

Secondly, the mouse pointer dissapears whenever I have any of the window menus expanded (file, view etc)

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Ben

Hi Ben,

First, use gconf-editor and navigate to /apps/me-tv and change the engine_type value to xine. It's probably set to gstreamer at the moment which was defaulted from a previous installation.

Second, yes, that is quite annoying isn't it. To be honest, I don't know what the issues is with the mouse hiding, I believe that I'm doing exactly the same thing that I did in 0.5. I'll work it out eventually.

Thanks,

Michael
