How do I add more channels that were not picked up in the initial scan???

Asked by royhobbs

Hi

When I ran the scan at the start Channel 10 Australia (Canberra) did not get picked up. How do I either do a re scan or manually add (if thats possible?) the file to the channels.conf file. Other than this (hopefully!) minor issue this app is FANTASTIC!

I am using the latest version I think? Me TV 0.5.17

Help->About.

0.5.17 is not the latest.

If you are using the 0.5 series then you can delete the ~/.me-tv/channels.conf file and then Me TV will rescan when you restart the application.

Hi and thanks for the quick reply. I deleted the file, however when it did the rescan it still could not find Channel 10? I tried updating and went to install me-tv-0.5.33, however when I got to the second step "2. Type `make' to compile the package." I got the following error message:

andrei@home-downstairs:~/me-tv-0.5.33$ make
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.

I then tried the make install command and got something similar:

andrei@home-downstairs:~/me-tv-0.5.33$ make install
make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop.

Not sure what's going on here?

My apologies for not being clear, I didn't need you to upgrade, it's just that different versions scan differently. I don't recommend using 0.5.32/33, you're much better off with a version like 0.5.30 which is available from my PPA (https://edge.launchpad.net/~lamothe/+archive).

BTW, the issue with your build is that I think you need to run ./autogen.sh

Maybe it's a reception issue. Where are you? I'm in Ngunnawal and have no reception issues here.

Thanks,

Michael

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply. I upgraded to 0.5.30 and deleted the channels.conf file and re scanned. Still no channel 10 though? I am in Duffy. When I use XP media centre I get the three channel 10 channels. Below is the output from the scan:

Which initial tuning file/region are you using?

au-canberra. I tried the black mountain file, but with that I didn't get Prime or 10?

Good, that's the one that I use. What DVB-T device are you using?

Can you run the scan application separately,

`scan /usr/share/doc/dvb-utils/examples/scan/dvb-t/au-canberra > channels.conf`

to see what comes out?

Also, in the meantime you might want to try my line,

SC10:177500000:INVERSION_AUTO:BANDWIDTH_7_MHZ:FEC_3_4:FEC_1_2:QAM_64:TRANSMISSION_MODE_8K:GUARD_INTERVAL_1_16:HIERARCHY_NONE:353:354:2055

It might work.

Hi, I'm a bit of a newbie so I'm not really sure how to find out what type of DVB-T device I have :( I ran the scan and got the output below. When I added your line to channels.conf I finally got channel 10! Do you have the lines for the other 2 channel 10 channels? Thanks for all your help with this :)

I only have one other,

SC10HD:177500000:INVERSION_AUTO:BANDWIDTH_7_MHZ:FEC_3_4:FEC_1_2:QAM_64:TRANSMISSION_MODE_8K:GUARD_INTERVAL_1_16:HIERARCHY_NONE:1711:0:2087

which always seems to show the same as the SD channel. This is from an old file so I hope that it works, it's been a while since I've generated a channels.conf and I don't use the HD channels.
