no radio stations

Asked by swdFrog

when I first downloaded me tv, for ubuntu, it showed and played radio stations. It no longer appears to. I scanned channels, Astra 28.2e, several times and now BBC Radio 4 etc. I then did a scan using scan from dvb-utils so I know that radio stations are in the list, but they don't show.

Is this a deliberate policy decision. If so it's sad because I like to listen to the radio while I work and me tv is now %70 useless to me.

I live in an area where there is no terrestrial digital or analog signals worth trying to watch/listen. OK I can go to the radio 4 website, but that is a second best option.

Could you not have an exclude radio stations option in preferences? Also what would be great is an option to exclude non FTA stations from the scan.

Hi Simon,

I have not changed anything in Me TV in regard to radio stations. I have no control over scan from dvb-utils but I seriously doubt that they would've removed radio stations.

I don't understand "I live in an area where there is no terrestrial digital or analog signals worth trying to watch/listen". If this is the case then I don't understand why you are using Me TV.

Also, it would help if you explained what you changed that made it stop working i.e. What versions of software/OS you are using. What device are you using, maybe there's an issue with the firmware or something like that.

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael
I sent you a mail with a couple of attachments. I'll mention some of the points again in case it was blocked. By no terrestrial signals I meant I can only receive services via satellite.

A channels.conf generated via the dvb-utils package shows radio stations, but they do not appear in me-tv.

I have also checked that a scan done via me-tv does see radio stations, however not only do they not appear in me-tv there are no radio stations in the channels.conf generated.

I am using ubuntu 8.04 and me-tv 0.5.17.

I've just realised that Totem, with a couple of dozen plugins will play DVB, so I've set it up and it's having no problem with radio stations, but me-tv would be the better solution.

The version of Me TV that you are using is old and buggy. The newer ones are much better, see http://me-tv.sourceforge.net/download.html.
