Invalid entry in channles.conf on HVR-1500

Asked by jonlowe

Ubuntu 8.04. ME TV finds my card, HVR-1500, scans and creates channels.conf. Then get an error message that there is an invalid entry in channles.conf that it just created, and only option is the cancel out of the program. Deleting channels.conf repeats the whole process. Help needed!

Hi,

That looks like a perfect channels.conf to me. That error is caused by the number of parameters on each line not being correct (6 for ATSC). The numbers look correct to me at a quick glance. Can you please just try one line and then if that works add another?

Thanks,

Michael

Tried several lines, one at a time. None worked. Here is the log file from the last one:

04/18/2008 22:47:36 - Me TV Version: 0.5.17
04/18/2008 22:47:36 - Loading glade file '/usr/share/me-tv/glade/me-tv.glade'
04/18/2008 22:47:36 - Creating EPG file at '/home/jonlowe/.me-tv/epg.xml'
04/18/2008 22:47:36 - EPG file loaded
04/18/2008 22:47:38 - Exception in void Application::init(): There's an invalid channel record in the channels.conf file
04/18/2008 22:47:43 - Terminating application normally

It says it is creating an EPG file in .me-tv, but there is not one there. Does it get deleted?

I know the card works as I got it to work in Kaffeine, but it doesn't do auto scans, so I'd rather use ME-TV.

Oh, sorry, I just realised that the version that you have is old and there was a bug with that version. You should get the latest version. See http://me-tv.sf.net/download.html.

This solved my problem. I fixed Ubuntu so it will no autoupdate. This will get sound on every station, while Kaffeine will only get sound on about 2/3rds.

Found a bug and filed a report though :(
