Haupauge WinTV HVR 950Q

Asked by Paul Jenns

Dear Sir/Madame,

We have an Haupauge HPR 950Q USB Stick which we use to watch television (via cable from a satelite). We recently migrated to the Ubuntu platform and have found Me TV as an option to watch television.

We have two questions.

Will our USB devise work with your software?

What software/drivers etc do we need to download - we have no experience with Linux and find the websites require a bit of knowledge to understand. We have downloaded the App(?) from the Ubuntu store and tried to acquire a signal - no luck.

We appreciate your time and effort in answer these two questions.

Thanks,

Paul

First of all, what version of me-tv do you have ?

You will have to configure channels before being able to watch tv. In me-tv
v1.3.x, somewhere in "option", you have something to scan for channels. In
me-tv 1.4.x you will have to scan manually.

Cheers,
Fred

Good Morning Fred.

I'm at the office so I've asked my husband to check which version it
is. I'll get back to you shortly.

Thanks,

Paul

Dear Fred,

It is Me TV 1.3.6. There is a "find" channel feature - we tried the
auto scan (for Canada) - didn't work; we tried each of the manual
scans - didn't work either.

I'm wondering if we need to download something else - GNOME perhaps?

Thanks,

Paul

Dear Fred,

A little more information: we have not downloaded any drivers yet?
Are they required?

Thanks,

Paul
