client server usage

Asked by Jason Imison

Sorry if this is documented somewhere, but I couldn't find it. How can I use me-tv-client on a different machine to the server?

Great app by the way, thanks for making :)

Hi Jason, it's not documented. I'm a little disapointed that launchpad doesn't have a place where we can put documentation. So much so that I created a blueprint for it against the launchpad project but nothing was done and it was eventually rejected. Now that Me TV is no longer a featured project I was going to move the website to SourceForge but I don't have much time these days.

To answer the question:

* Server: me-tv-server --broadcast-address=192.168.0.255
* Client: me-tv-client --server-host <server>

Or course, you will need to change the broadcast address to match your network. Also, be warned if you have a wireless network attached to your router on the same network it might flood it depending on your hardware and network design.
