Video quality issues with me-tv

Asked by Jared Norris

I am having problems getting me-tv to display the video component in the same level of quality as Xine. I had a look at https://answers.launchpad.net/me-tv/+question/44407 but I don't appear to have the files in question to modify. I am running Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit and me-tv version 1.3.1 from the ppa.

I have tried all number of video driver and deinterlace options within me-tv to try and get it to display a reasonable quality picture but I find it is always "chunky" looking (the "none" and "standard" deinterlace options are not an option for me, they make the picture quality really poor) no matter what options I try.

I am fairly new to DVB on a pc so it's posisble I'm missing something here but I thought that if I can get it to work ok in xine it should be working ok in me-tv.

Sorry I have just realised that by creating the file it will work, I thought it had to be there for me to edit. So I have just created and tried a bunch of different options from copying the whole xine.config to just a line and the best combination I have found is as follows (identical to the other question referenced above in the end):

.version:2
video.output.xv_deinterlace_method=linearblend
engine.buffers.audio_num_buffers:50
engine.buffers.video_num_buffers:1000

I'm glad I found this as I really like the me-tv interface but the picture quality was so poor it was about to make me look for another player, fortunately now it's fixed.
