Failed to find a value for 'I999B8C999D999M999T999G999Y999'

Hi - I'm very new to Linux and new to this program, etc, so I'm probably lacking essential knowledge that you might assume I have, but trying anyway... I have a KWorld USB DVB-T TV stick II (DVB-T395U/UR) and am running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. I figured out how to install and run w_scan utility through Terminal and created a channels.conf file in a directory I created for it. I open MeTV and it asks for the conf file to get the channel info, so I locate it and try to load it up and I immediately get this message:

Failed to find a value for 'I999B8C999D999M999T999G999Y999'

I don't know what else to do to get this working - can anyone advise? Thanks...

You should upgrade me-tv to the latest version (1.2.6). To do that you must add the me-tv repository in your source with this command:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:me-tv-development/ppa

Then update the sources and the system:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

With the latest version you will probably be able to scan within me-tv for channel (depending on your location)

Hi Frédéric - thanks very much for your help - that works a treat - I am up and running with a full compliment of channels, so that's great.

The only problem I seem to have now is that the picture is very 'liney' or jagged when there is motion on screen to the point where you completely lose the detail of what's happening in fast motion sequences. Still or slow moving images are ok though. When I run this stick under Windows software (which I hope to never do again!) the motion is smooth, so I know it's not the hardware. Do you know if there is anything I can do to improve this?

Ubuntu wanted me to install proprietary drivers for the tuner stick when I first connected it, so I did that...

Hi... in the preferences try experimenting with the different video
types, I find that 'tvtime' works best for me...

Hi thanks for the tip - it doesn't quite solve it for me unfortunately - settings other than standard are ok in a small viewport but full screen it gets really stuttery and jerky.. Still I can get by and it's better than having to run Vista ;-)

I just wanted to say that I really appreciate the effort that goes into creating these applications - it's so great to see a viable open source alternative to Windows / Mac gaining ground. I have started helping a few people who are facing the idea of Windows 7 get set up with Ubuntu and being able to find the apps they need is great.
