Can't update repositories to get key for software

Asked by Michael Seebran

I cannot seem to get the PPA installed, this is what my terminal gives me:

assaulth3ro911@linuxmint ~ $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:me-tv-development/ppa
Executing: gpg --ignore-time-conflict --no-options --no-default-keyring --secret-keyring /etc/apt/secring.gpg --trustdb-name /etc/apt/trustdb.gpg --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --primary-keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv A1394FE75BF4BED9818080513912134DD7DC1146
gpg: requesting key D7DC1146 from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com
gpg: keyserver timed out
gpg: keyserver receive failed: keyserver error
assaulth3ro911@linuxmint ~ $

------

Why does it time out?

The keyserver seems to be down. This link is down (me-tv PPA keys) : http://keyserver.ubuntu.com:11371/pks/lookup?search=0xA1394FE75BF4BED9818080513912134DD7DC1146&op=index

Try when this link come up. It should come back soon.

I too am getting...

Executing: gpg --ignore-time-conflict --no-options --no-default-keyring
--secret-keyring /etc/apt/secring.gpg
--trustdb-name /etc/apt/trustdb.gpg --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg
--primary-keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com
--recv A1394FE75BF4BED9818080513912134DD7DC1146
gpg: requesting key D7DC1146 from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com
gpgkeys: HTTP fetch error 7: couldn't connect to host
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
gpg: Total number processed: 0

So I'd say the keyserver is down, just keep trying, and if it doesn't
come back up within a reasonable time you may wish to make contact with
in the #launchpad IRC channel

Put that in a file and import it in "Software Sources"
