Autoscan local scan not working

Asked by Marco

Hi

autoscans for ITALY do not seem to work on my DVB-T Terratec Cinergy 1400 under Lucid Lynx.
After upgrading to 1.2.1 the application declare the DB too old and wanted a new scan to be done. That was surprising since 1.2.0 did not do that.
Anyway the scan for ITALY does not actually start and declares itself immediately concluded.
No channels are found and then Me-TV locks. Me-TV version is 1.2.1.

I can actually get stations using scans for GERMANY and FRANCE, autosca in this case works, although the application still freezes/locks after channels are found and selectively added to.
You have to restart. All in all, in the end it works, but only after 3 to 4 scans, some with autoscan, some with initial scan file.

Also some stations are sometime found, some other time not.

It looks as if the autoscan feature is somewhat "young". Or can it be anything else?

Grazie/ciao

Marco

Hi
I tested the autoscan for ITALY of version 1.2.2.
It actually now scans, but analyzes just 14 transponders and finds no channel.
On the other side the scan for GERMANY analyzes more than 50 transponders and now finds all of the channels and does not freeze any longer.
So it appears than in Italy the scan for GERMANY works, the one for ITALY not yet.

ciao/Marco

What happens when you run w_scan or kaffeine? Do either of those produce channels? I copied the scan ranges from one of those applications so if it doesn't work then I will have to remove Italy because the list I have is faulty.

Alternatively, if you know the ranges you can patch me.

Hi
w_scan works and scans all the transponders. The problem with w_scan is that (to me at least) I have to edit the file produced, removing all of the tabs and other things to produce a clean file for MeTV.

Back to Me-TV autoscan it looks as if the list is not correct.
I'm running right now this in the terminal:

w_scan -c IT -x > MilanDVBT

scans start first in the 7Mhz channels, ranging from 177500 to 226500
afterwards it scans the 8Mhz channels ranging from 474000 to 858000

this is the content of the file:

So I should switch the first range (177500 to 226500) to 8MHz also?

Marco (mtamilia) said :

no, the first range to scan is actually 7Mhz.
w_scan scans for:

177500
184500
191500
198500
205500
212500
219500
226500

all of the above have an interval of 7Mhz.
and then w_scan switches to the first 8Mhz frequence, that is:

474000
482000
490000
so on......
up to 858000 in steps of 8Mhz.

I'm not so sure of this but some people in here when having problems with decoders (nothing to do with Me-TV) suggest to use the settings for GERMANY. Indeed if I use these settings autoscan feature on Me-TV works for me and finds channels.
That makes me to think that the settings are very similar if not equal. The current implementation of Me-TV, when autoscanning for ITALY seems to scan only in 14 transponders in total. That looks as a wrong list.

Oooohhh, sorry for making you repeat that, I misunderstood. Try revision 430. DE and IT now share the same ranges and I've extended the second range to 858000.

I've just downloaded latest version. The problem with autoscan for Italy is no longer existing.
Scan now works. Thanks for the effort in fixing this, is very much appreciated cause if there was one thing missing with MeTV it was really autoscan, at least to me.
GRAZIE!!!!
