Record Error: Invalid argument

Asked by Sway

Everytime I try to record something with me-tv, I get a "Invalid argument" error-message. No difference whether it's a scheduled recording or a direct one. I'm running me-tv 1.1.6 on karmic. Anyone an idea, what to do?

Thanks
Sway

Totally guessing here but I'm thinking that it might be the recording directory that you have/haven't specified. You may have just exposed a bug in Me TV in that it does not handle the case where the recording directory is not set.

If you are using 1.1.6 then I assume that this is not your first install of Me TV but maybe you recently reinstalled Ubuntu and went straight to 1.1.6.

Sound right?

Sure, I did set the recording directory. I previously had the 1.0.0 Version installed I think. Since my upgrade to Karmic I hadn't used me-tv and when I now discovered, that the recording feature doesn't work I upgraded to 1.1.6.

Does it matter where the recording folder is located? I put it in a folder on my data partition and not in my home directory or th me-tv folder.

Mine also go to another folder, however, here's another guess. Are you saving to a FAT/NTFS partition? If so it's very common for broadcasters to use a ":" in the title. This character is not valid for FAT/NTFS partitions. We have an option to fix the titles in the preferences dialog (I think).

Was I closer that time?

Yeah Michael,

you got it 100% right. That was exactly the problem.

Thanks and big up for the work you're doing around here.
