Max

Cannot CD acquire artist & track names

Asked by Peter Palethorpe

First time I have ever used Max (I also tried Max 0.9.2 and had the same problem). When I load my CD (Deutche Gramophon CD that other rippers identify OK) the page that opens up shows "none specified" for the fields
Lists
Title
Artist
Date etc.

This page then does correctly identifiy that on this CD there are Track 1, Track 2, Track 3 and Track 4 but in the field under Title says "none specified'.

Please help me get started!

Regards

Peter

It is possible that this particular CD isn't in the MusicBrainz
database, which is what Max uses by default to lookup tags. One
alternative is the "Get from iTunes" AppleScript which will pull the
tags from iTunes after it has looked up the disc.

Does any information populate if you try to manually look up the tags?

Stephen,

Many thanks for your response.

iTunes does correctly identify the details of the CD however I am unable
to try out what you have suggested as I do not know how to select the

"Get from iTunes" AppleScript

that you have suggested. The closest I get to iTunes is by selecting
Max, Preferences, iTunes. If I select Add output files to iTunes
library" an "Add format specifier" sub menu asks me to select from a
list of useful information about CD format and tracks but I can only
select one at a time when I probably want most of them to be captured.

I will have to wait until I have a session next Tuesday with my IT
consultant to try what you suggest.

Regards

Peter

The "Get iTunes Metadata" is a stand-alone AppleScript that works in
conjunction with Max and iTunes. With both applications running,
launching the AppleScript should populate the cd information in Max
using iTunes' data. The script should be included as part of the Max
download.
