Why doesn't Marlin have smooth scrolling in folder icon view?

Using my touchpad, I can smooth scroll in the list view but not when browsing by icons. Not the case with Nautilus though.

The smooth scrolling is something that landed in gtk recently. Marlin's icon view is not a standard gtk widget, i need to make changes to support it and i don't have a synaptic touchpad to test it.

Can you help with this problem?
