No such list [list name]

Asked by Thomas Chan

I'm currently using mailman 2.1.13 provided by the web hosting company. I am trying to access the admin page via http://domain/mailman/admin/listname to change some settings, but the message "No such list [list name]" appears instead of the login window. I get the same message for the listinfo page. I am able to setup a new mailing list and that works fine, but it would be a real hassle to start another list.

Is this cpanel? If so listname is listname_domain.

Sorry, that's what I meant. When I access the admin page via http://domain/mailman/admin/listname_domain, the message "No such list [list name]" appears instead of the login window. Yes, it is cpanel and it worked fine up until a few days ago.

Do you have some reason to believe your list still exists? It appears that it probably was deleted. The only people who can help further with this are the hosting service.

In the "Mailing lists" menu within cpanel, the list name is still present. Should this mean that the list still exists? I will ask the hosting company as well.

The "Mailing lists" menu within cpanel is a cPanel feature which is outside the scope of this "answers" forum. See the FAQ at <http://wiki.list.org/x/sYA9>.

Presumably, if a list is removed via cPanel, it will no longer appear in the "Mailing lists" menu., but there are other ways a list can be accidentally or deliberately removed outside of cPanel. Again, only your hosting service can address what might have happened and why.

Can you help with this problem?
