GNU Mailman

email marketing - Mailman suitable?

I am new to mailing list and email marketing. I want to start a mailing list for a newsletter for email marketing. Is GNU Mailman suitable for such purposes?

I am familiar with Yahoo group and Google group and I am not seeking something similar. Is GNU Mailman same as these 2?

Mailman can be used effectively to send a newsletter to a list of customers, but it is not a customer relationship management tool. It is closer to Google Groups and Yahoo Groups than it is to CRM software.

The FAQ at <http://wiki.list.org/x/3YA9> on setting up a "newsletter" list will give you some idea of what's involved.
