What is the Installer for?

Starting with Magick Rotation version 1.2 an Installer was added. It's job is to check and see if you have gcc, libx11-dev and libxrandr-dev installed on your system so that you can compile check.c into either checkmagick32 or checkmagick64. If not it installs them on your system. Some additional libraries may be installed, depending on the libx11-dev and libxrandr-dev dependencies for your system. Once that's done the Installer is able to compile check.c.

In addition it installs the 62-magick.rules file. These udev rules are placed in /etc/udev/rules.d.

These changes eliminate polling and significantly reduce CPU usage.

If you do not see the Installer splash screen (with it's large Magick Rotation icon) then please read INSTALLER.txt in the magick-rotation folder. Manual installation is straightforward and should be fairly quick.

With Magick Rotation version 1.5 the Installer completes installation by installing checkmagic to /usr/bin and the magick-rotation folder and needed files to /usr/share. However it can be run from the original magick-rotation folder as before if desired.
