How to Install fresh OpenERP and Trunk MagentoConnector?

My attempts at version 6.0 Connector Installs have not been satisfactory and I am willing to Install Trunk Versions. Last night I installed a Fresh OpenERP 6.03. I have not yet instagated a Database but I know that process.

My Magento is version 1.6.1.0. I discovered a version 1.4 Magento Module on the apps.openerp pages. Is this Stable and the one to install (it had a header of 1.6.1.0 over it?)

I have also downloaded all of the latest Trunks of what seem to be Related or Dependancies.. at least the ones I could find searching for the keyword "product" thinking that would cover it. These all are in to my loading workstation as Zips and I want to install them using the "import module" command.

Any sequences or gotchas in this process?
Heretofore I have only loaded what I take to be "stable" 6.0 Modules.

My problem has been the lack of "simple" products that are subproducts of master products (configurables came in, but not, for instance the "color assortments".

Also Magento Categories were not attached to the products that were imported although the Categories themselves were imported and the Products (at least many of them) were imported.

Finally, I had difficulty defining the proper "Root Catalog". This is what is named after import though prior to Magento Instance I had only defined "All Products"... I assume this time I should have my first category be called "Root Catalog" and everything Magento will go there. Is this correct?

Thank you for any help. I am legitimately trying to get this done.
