Magento SQL error updating image attributes

Found this bug on Magento side today.
When I tried to change the image attributes (small image, base image, thumbnail) I got the following error from Magento API - "SQLSTATE[23000]: Integrity constraint violation: 1048 Column 'value' cannot be null".
After doing some extensive research I found that this is a Magento bug. See my bug report - see http://
The workaround either not changing those attributes or apply the fix on Magento side as described in bug report.
The bug is present on 1.4.2.0 and 1.5.0.1.
