Query about equivalent photon approx. from e- in MG5

Asked by Mukesh Kumar

Hi,

1. As I seen in MG5 that the option with equivalent photon from electron is implemented and can be used with option 3 with lpp1 or lpp2 in run_card.dat. But I wondered whether the laser photon option i.e. from Compton back-scattering of photon is implemented or not ! If it is, how one can use ?

2. Can I control the parameters like Q^2 or acceptance parameter (for the analysis of TOTEM) within MG5, in ep, ep -> eap or pp -> pap collisions ?

Thank you and regards,

Mukesh Kumar

Hi Mukesh,

Sorry for the late answer on this.

We use as references the following paper:
http://arxiv.org/abs/hep-ph/9310350
So I guess that the answer to your solution is no.
I would be interested to improve those effects but we would need a collaboration with someone which is used to this type of physics which is clearly not my case. (But I can help for technical issue)

>2. Can I control the parameters like Q^2 or acceptance parameter (for the analysis of TOTEM) within MG5, in ep, ep -> eap or pp >-> pap collisions ?

Not sure to understand your question. Did you read the following topic?
https://answers.launchpad.net/madgraph5/+question/224904
(They are some discussion about Q^2)

Concerning the acceptance, you can apply cut on final states object. But not sure that this answer your question.

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi Olivier,

Thanks for the reply.
I think all the doubts raised here should be implemented (which is not now) properly in the event generator like MadGraph. Let me go through more deep in the matter and then come back to you.

Mukesh
