Pion not decaying

Asked by Amalia Betancur

Dear Maddump team,

I am trying to run maddump using a pi0 decay to produce DM.

This is the debug file:

Hi,

Luca is the expert concerning maddump, so I hope he will answer you.
Waiting for that, could you explain your setup?
The question here is that you are speaking of hadron (a pion) that decay into a dark matter.
Such transition is not very common in simulation tools but at the same time can be done in multiple way but you need dedicated model/....

As far as I remember they are two ways it can be done in Maddump.
1) you provide an hepmc file of the pion spectra and ask madspin to decay the pion into dark matter (and then need a dedicated model where the lorentz structure of such decay is encoded)
2) You use an internal model of pythia to generate such decay from scratch.

From the above log, I'm not sure which of those two model you are trying (if you are in one of those two modes)

Cheers,

Olivier

Dear Oliver,

thanks for your quick reply.

I think I am using model 1. I have provided the hepmc file and have added the pion to the BSM model I am working with following the example provided in maddump. My understanding is that I have to modify the particles.py, params.py, vertices.py, and couplings.py. Not sure what else I need to modify so that the pion can decay.

Thanks again,
amalia

Hi,

Could you attach the model (I believe attachment are going trough now but if not, you will need to create a bug report, if you want to be sure, then convert to a bug report first).

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi Oliver,
I created a bug report and added the model files.

Thank you,
