Difference between bofore and after parton shower

Asked by DavidHydroneWang

I want to know how to compare the difference between before and after parton shower, say I have a process p p > h j j [QCD] , if I want to compare the Pt distributions of h or j before and after parton shower, how should I deal with the two events files with MadAnalysis5, especially the .hepmc.gz file? Should i use the .hepmc file directly or the reconstructed .lhe file?

Good morning [by the way, this is a good way to start a message],

The pre-parton shower information is available in the reconstructed file (status code 3). However, you need to design the reconstruction of your Higgs boson to get the post-shower information.

Benjamin

Good morning!

Thanks for your explanation! But what do you mean by designing the reconstruction of Higgs boson to get the post-shower information?

Sincerely yours,

David

Hi,

I mean, doing a full analysis to attach some of the reconstructed final-state objects to a would-be decaying Higgs boson.

Benjamin
