new particles

Asked by Juhi Dutta

Dear Experts,

I am adding a new particle to mssm which contributes to the missing energy. To construct the MET plots in the normal mode in madanalysis5, if I use : define invisible = X -16 -14 -12 12 14 16 , where X is the new particle pdg. Is there anywhere else in the code which needs to be modified?

And what is the procedure in the expert mode to include the new particle pdg contributing to the MET?

Thanks & Regards,

Juhi Dutta

Hi Juhi,

In the normal mode, this is sufficient. In the expert mode, you need to use the AddInvisible method attached to the mcConfig object (see arXiv:1405.3982, table 8).

Benjamin

Hi Benjamin,

Thank you for the reply!

The expert mode reference allows to add invisible particles. This collection is only of stable particles? so any invisible particle earlier which may decay now is not in the invisible collection?

Thanks & Regards,

Juhi

Hi Juhi,

More precisely, any final state particle in your event tagged as invisible will be considered as contributing to the MET.

Cheers,

Benjamin
