Wallpaper not showing on i3 with compton on Arch Linux

Asked by Damien Watson

I have installed the livewallpaper package from both the official packages and by building the source from the AUR. In both cases, I can run livewallpaper-config to show the configuration dialog, which works fine. The livewallpaper-indicator makes a window that has the wallpaper on, but it has a border on it with a title-bar (despite my i3 config turning off borders and title-bars??). If I run livewallpaper, it doesn't actually do anything, it doesn't fork and the only way out is to interrupt it or kill it. I have turned on autostart in the config, which also had no effect. I tried running the indicator in the root window (using 'xwinwrap -g 1920x1080 -ov -- livewallpaper-indicator') but that gave the error 'xwinwrap: window type - override' and acted like a normal window.

On Manjaro Linux, I had this problem. Plasma (Manjaro KDE) the desktop environment, draws it's wallpaper over the Live Wallpaper. When I log in with the Cinnamon desktop environment, I can see all the live desktops beautifully.

Would love to know if anyone can make it work in the Plasma desktop.

Can you help with this problem?
