1 Go Live USB Hardy in persitant mode ?

Asked by Aleg

Hello all,

I have installed Hardy Heron on my 1Go USB stick, the installation duration was approximately an hour (!).

It run correctly but the boot sequence is very long, same time or more than the live CD (!).

First I tried to install it in "persistant mode" without any results, the system blocks (?).

My questions are :

Is there possible to install in persistant mode Hardy Heron on a 1 Go stick ?
If not, can I save my work on the free space ? : about 300 Mo free.
Why the boot sequence is very long ?
And why the installation on the stick need about one hour ?

Nota:
My Linux level is very low.

Thanks

This is not a bug of liveusb, but a bug in Hardy itself. It will hopefully be fixed in Intrepid.

Hardy should work if you do NOT use persistence.
Or wait for Intrepid if you need persistence.

Hello Probono,

Thank you very much for your answer.
No, is not a really problem for me, it is just for the fun : to bring a desktop in my pocket !!!

I have read many methods for make a persistant mode Linux in a USB stick, but my Linux command knowledg is very poor and i'm afraid to make ( fatal ) errors...

Are you the autor of "live USB" creator ?
Because I think it is a really progress for people like me.
