Where is the official bug tracker

Asked by Sam Liddicott

I'm currently sitting on bugs not knowing where to report them.

Launchpad tells me:

The Linux Kernel
Report a new bug

Linux does not use Malone as its bug tracker.

To report a bug about Linux, please use its official bug tracker.

but no clue as to what or where its official bug tracker actually is. I don't know if I need the kernel.org mailing list, or even if they would would be interested in "old" 2.6.15 kernel bugs.

I don't know if it means the ubuntu kernel official bug tracker.

All I know is that launchpad said "go away"

And so I ask one of you to tell me what official bug tracker it is talking about.

So I don't loose these details, I get this this oops in my logs when I insert a flash card in my pcmcia slot on a dell M70, uname -r is: 2.6.15-26-386
I have vmware-player installed but not running

All is fine if I boot up with the card already installed.

Hi,

Here's a link to the official bugzilla for kernel version 2.6:
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/

bugzilla.kernel.org don't want to know, they say:

MAINLINE OR -MM KERNELS ONLY. Please only file bugs against mainline kernels (ie from kernel.org), -mm tree. Distro bugs should not be reported here, but to the distro's own bug tracking system

Which, of course, is what I am trying to do.

Agreed, this is a crazy situation. I've got a bug in the Ubuntu kernel that's already been discussed [1] on LKML for 2.6.17 (and, I believe, fixed) that causes the Compaq nc4200 to no longer suspend because of a bug that was in 2.6.17-mm1 and fixed in 2.6.17-mm2 [2].

So there's no point reporting it upstream and no way of logging a bug against the Ubuntu kernel to get the upstream fix pulled in! :-(

I'm going to try and open a support request, in case that helps..

Chris

Ubuntu kernel bugs should be reported to http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/ using the appropriate kernel version as the package. So since you are running the 2.6.15 kernel you could use this url http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+filebug to report you bug.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Sam Liddicott for more information if necessary.
