Hi, This bug is beyond me. The weird thing about this is that the "registry hives" are both in the same folder (temp folder) and on the same drive. It has occured on my friends computer which has 7 but not on mine computer. I am going to see if I can get some help from someone else to see why this is happening. Sorry for the inconvience. I ran your new version and it analyzed OK but when I asked it to

I think the attempted optimization trashed something on my machine. I had to do a chkdsk to get it going again.

I have posted a fix for this bug in the bug report. If you are still receiving this bug or a different one then please let me know. Thanks!

Are you confident that it will not mess up my hard dive again?

I have tested it on both my XP, Vista, and 7 machines. If you are not comfortable then please do not use it. If you are using chkdsk then it could mean there is a bad sector on your hard drive and you should get a new one immediately or you'll lose everything! I would suggest running "chkdsk C: /R" see if it finds any bad sectors.

The optimizer seems to work fine now. Thanks for the fix.

I did a check disk and there is no problem with the hard drive I am running a month old Dell studio xps laptop. So it is a new harddrive. How often should I clean and optimize the registry?

I would do it only once a month. I am not saying you shouldnt use the program but if you do it more often then you could end up crashing your computer. Cheers
