Windows 7 hive problem

Asked by DocWeathers

This is similar to Maria's problem but the error message is a bit different. I thought it might help to have the message I got.

I don't understand why it is wanting to move anything to another disk drive??

Also when I tried to send error report and got. 'The remote name could not be resolved:'lilappsf-snet.com'

Please let me know when you get a fix for this.

Hi Nick

I appreciate your willingness to help while on vacation, but I can certainly wait until you are off vacation.

It is only installed on C:

Hi, This bug is beyond me. The weird thing about this is that the "registry hives" are both in the same folder (temp folder) and on the same drive. It has occured on my friends computer which has 7 but not on mine computer. I am going to see if I can get some help from someone else to see why this is happening. Sorry for the inconvience. Cheers!

Hi, Can you please try the link below and see if this still causes the same problem. My friend has encountered the same problem but he is being stubborn and wont test it for me. Please let me know if the problem is still there or not. Thanks!

I think the attempted optimization trashed something on my machine. I had to do a chkdsk to get it going again.

Are you confident that it will not mess up my hard dive again?

I have tested it on both my XP, Vista, and 7 machines. If you are not comfortable then please do not use it. If you are using chkdsk then it could mean there is a bad sector on your hard drive and you should get a new one immediately or you'll lose everything! I would suggest running "chkdsk C: /R" see if it finds any bad sectors.

The optimizer seems to work fine now. Thanks for the fix.

I did a check disk and there is no problem with the hard drive I am running a month old Dell studio xps laptop. So it is a new harddrive. How often should I clean and optimize the registry?

Thanks Larry

I would do it only once a month. I am not saying you shouldnt use the program but if you do it more often then you could end up crashing your computer. Cheers
